(CBT-I) is the proven non-drug treatment insomnia treatment.  Also unlike medication, which tend to be targeted at symptoms, CBT-I targets after the main cause of insomnia the “overactive” mind or the over-aroused brain. CBT-I focuses on such behaviors as oversleeping, under sleeping, negative sleep thoughts, restlessness as well as sleep hygiene.  Some common tools used in CBT-I are sleep diaries, biofeedback and relaxation techniques.
