An in-home sleep study is a more convenient way to gather information about your sleep patterns and may be appropriate with patients who are unable to participate in an in lab sleep study, or if the provider feels it is an appropriate method of diagnosis for your condition. If the results are unclear however, your sleep specialist may recommend an in lab study. In-home sleep studies measures the individual’s heart rate, airflow, breathing patterns and blood oxygen level. Individuals with sleep apnea show changes in their oxygen level with multiple drops and rises. Based on the results, your provider may still prescribe an in lab sleep study.
